Check Your Skin Regularly

Skin Checks

It is a fact that skin checks save lives and booking one in is highly recommended. Our Experienced GP’s know what to look for when performing general skin checks during a consultation and can schedule these in with no hassle. During a consultation you can expect the GP to discuss any of your personal skin concerns prior to gently scanning your skin from top to toe to inspect for anything unusual. A follow up check may be scheduled to monitor any growth changes. Minor biopsy collection may be required. Dermatologist referrals are also a possibility.

Conduct Skin Checks

Family Health Clinic’s Malvern recognise the importance of skin checks for adults in Australia as a way to monitor and hopefully prevent serious skin diseases. In the comfort of our consultation rooms, our GP’s can expertly assess your skin and discuss any abnormalities with you.

Book Online Today

We encourage adults to book in a skin check at least once every 5 years, or more often if advised. Not only does an initial skin check provide an important benchmark for future skin checks, but you will also be educated around ways to self-check your body with the aim of skin disease prevention.

As the name suggests, a skin check involves a visual assessment of your skin using a handheld microscope to check for any obvious abnormalities. GP skin checks involve scanning areas of your skin that are usually covered as well. If there are spots that look different in colour, size or pigmentation, a GP may request a biopsy or refer you to a skin specialist.
